SCENE 3D DOC

A supporting tool for the investigation process able to play back the appearance of crime scenes and the course of events

The main aim of the project is to create a platform for the securing and digital reconstruction of crime scenes and the possible course of events. For this reason we are developing technology to support the investigation process through the use of the newest achievements in the field of 3D scanning and multispectral imaging. Laser and structured light 3D scanning technologies will help to secure the topography, even of large scenes, with all details in a short period of time. Moreover, imaging the scene with other wavelengths of light, for example close infrared, may reveal new elements and evidence present at the crime scene. With the help of the platform it will be possible to generate a three-dimensional reconstruction of the scene and visualization of the possible course of events. It will help in examining the scene on multiple occasions and from all possible perspectives, even at a time when the original scene no longer exists.

The Central Forensic Laboratory Of the Police, together with Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw University, Military University of Technology and the company Cybid have created a scientific consortium to develop innovative techniques for digitally securing information from crime scenes.
